ADC Saima serves notice on alleged vehicle smuggler

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Saima Aftab has served a show cause notices on a suspect in Mazda truck smuggling case through the Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation.

As per details, the additional collector issued notice to Mohammad Anwar Khan son of Mohammad Aslam Khan, a resident of Sheikh Ferozwala, Essakhel, Mianwali. The Faisalabad Customs Intelligence intercepted the said truck in its jurisdiction and asked the driver to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle. But, the driver failed to show document regarding the legal import of the truck; therefore, the officials impounded the truck.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to Mohammed Anwar Khan son of Mohammed Aslam Khan on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. The accused has been called upon to show cause as to why the impounded vehicle should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of law..

However, the adjudication has directed the accused persons to file their replies by given time, which is also last date of hearing. The case of truck might be decided in the next hearing, sources informed.
