Additional Collector Adjudication Saeed Asad issues ONO against owner of smuggled mobile phones

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Saeed Asad has issued Order in Original (ONO) against a suspect, Munir Ahmed, proprietor of M/s DCS Cargo Service and M/S Digicom Trading (Private) Limited Karachi in smuggled mobile phones case.

As per details, customs anti-smuggling team intercepted a truck no: JY-2694 (Sindh), near Gumti Chowk Circular Road Faisalabad, and recovered 1,530 non-duty paid mobile phones. The phones were made in China. The suspect had failed to produce any documents to satisfy the officials. Later, the case was sent to the adjudication for further legal action.

Superintendent Muhammad Tahir appeared before the authority, while Ahmed Junaid representative of M/s Digicon appeared to defend the case and he produced photocopies of documents required by seizing agency which was handed over to the prosecution for verification. The agency has reported vide C.NO.CII/Cus/Seiz/46/2016/161 dated 7-02-2017 that 408 mobiles of different categories matched with the documents presented by the party and 1,122 mobiles did not match.

After complete all required procedure Additional Collector Adjudication issued ONO in favour of customs department.
