Additional Collector Asma declares seizure of NDP Toyota Coaster as legal

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued Order- in-Original (ONO) in favor of the Anti-Smuggling Organization Jhang.

Sources told Customs Today that ASO team received credible information about some non-customs paid vehicles. The anti-smuggling squad enhanced checking on main roads of Jhang. The ASO team impounded a Toyota Coaster bearing registration no: LES-112662. The owner Nazir Ahmed failed to produce any documents.

During the checking process of the vehicle It was clear that the Mini Bus was brought to the country without payment of any duty. The Aso authorities seized the vehicle and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for proceedings. During the hearing of the case no one appeared on behalf of the respondents nor any reply was received from the respondents despite giving opportunities to be heard.

Inspector Munir Ahmed appeared from the prosecution and stated that seized vehicle falls under Section 2 (S ) of the Customs Act 1969 read with current policy order.

After hearing the arguments Additional Collector Asma Hameed issued ONO in favor of ASO Jhang and declared of vehicle under section 156(1)8 and 9 of the Customs Act 1969 as legal.
