Additional Collector Asma issues notice to owner of smuggled engine boxes

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to the owner of non-duty paid engine boxes worth Rs8 million involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs2.8 million.

As per details, FIU team intercepted Isuzu Mazda truck bearing registration no: JU-9190 near Bypass Chowk Sargodha. The FIU team checked the vehicle and found a huge quantity of engine boxes in different sizes and modes which were brought into country through unauthorized way.

Therefore, the officials impounded items under the customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to the accused person namely Muhammad Shoaib on violation of Section 2(S) read with SRO No 566(1)/2005 of the Customs Act 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why impounded goods do not fall under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing on 25-2-2019. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
