Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan issues notice to owner of smuggled Land Cruiser

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to owner of a non-duty paid used Toyota Land Cruiser involving duty and taxes Rs 1,297,786.

Sources told Customs Today that the Jhang city Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration no LWC-4034 and asked his owner who was identified as  Muhammad Irfan to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle. But he could not produce the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under customs laws and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Beelam issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file his reply on next date of hearing.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs ASO Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
