Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan issues OnO in favour of ASO Mianwali

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelamur Ramzan has issued Order-in-Original (OnO) in favour of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali by deciding a case of non-duty paid Benz truck.

According to details, an ASO team, after receiving information through Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan, intercepted a used Benz truck bearing registration no. KBL-332 model 1995 which was coming from Kalabagh side to Mianwali. The ASO team asked the owner who was identifies as Nadir Shah son of Haji Badshah, a resident of Afghanistan, to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle. But he failed to produce any import document. Therefore, the staff impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s), and 16, of the Customs Act, 1969.

Furthermore, the Mainwali ASO team sent its chassis for forensic test. The report clarified that present chassis number of vehicle are not original as it is tempered with. The officials sent the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action. During hearing of the case it was revealed that the said vehicle is smuggled one and brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

However, on the date of hearing Nadir Shah represented as respondent while Asif Hussain (inspector) represented the department side and asserted that the seized vehicle fell under the ambit of Section 2(s) of the Customs Act, 1969.

Therefore, Additional Collector Adjudication Beelamur Ramzan has issued OnO in favour of the Customs ASO Mianwali and ordered to impound the truck under Section 156(1) 89(i) of the Customs Act 1969.
