Adjudication Deputy Collector Kaukab issues notice in 420kg smuggled tea case

ISLAMABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Kaukab Farooq has issued a show-cause notice to a suspect, Yasir Rehman, allegedly involved in smuggling of 420 kilogram tea.

According to the details, the anti-smuggling staff of Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation had impounded a bus coming from Peshawar after recovery of smuggled tea and lodged a case against the suspect.

The case was sent to adjudication, where the deputy collector has issued a show-cause notice to the owner of the tea, directing him to appear before the court within 10 day of the notice.

However, the adjudication has also declared the tea as smuggled one which has been brought into the country by violating of provision of Section 2(s) and 16 of the Customs Act, 1969.

The suspect has also been directed to produce all documentary evidence and payment of customs duty and taxes if he had.
