Adjudication-I recovers Rs 1.78m from M/s Qari Associates

KARACHI: The Customs Adjudication-I has recovered Rs 1.78 million from M/s Qari Associates. The company was found involved in tax evasion.

Sources told reporter that Collector Customs Adjudication-I Mohammad Javed sent a show-cause notice to M/s Shabbir Traders  for allegedly causing loss of Rs1.98 million by way of mis-declaration of classification.

According to sources, M/s Shabbir Traders imported a consignment of motorcycle scrap and parts got them cleared by mis-declaring the classification under Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) from Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT). They allegedly availed undue and inadmissible benefit as well as exemption of sales tax.

It is pertinent to mention here that M/s Shabbir traders itself has imported identical/same import under correct PCT heading 2701.6702. Apart from it, all other importers of motorcycle scrap and parts have either been declared by the importers or assessed by the Collectorates.

Before three days Customs Adjudication-I has a show-cause notice to M/s Alia Ahmed and Company for allegedly causing loss of Rs1.22 million by way of mis-declaration of classification.
