Adjudication-I recovers Rs9.55m from M/s Saba Garments

KARACHI: Customs Adjudication-I served a final notice on a defaulter company named M/s Waseem and Sons, Karachi and recovered Rs 9.55 million from M/s Saba Garments & Export, located in SITE Karachi.

Sources told Customs Today that M/s Waseem and Sons, Karachi was allegedly involved in tax evasion. The company imported different types of molding machines, water filter plants accessories and condensers on November 17, 2017 by the examiner Sultan Mehmood, and used the wrong PCT heading.

After a careful investigation, the Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on 7th, June, according to final notice, defaulter company will submit amount of Rs4.23 million within 14 days.

Sources said that another company M/s Saba Garments & Export, company got cleared a consignment of silk fabrics, dying colors and liquid chemicals (used in fabric dying) on January 11, 2018 and evaded a tax amount of Rs3 million.

After the investigation, the Customs Adjudication-I served a show cause notice on the company on April 26, 2018 but it failed to clear the tax amount.

The Collector Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on 4 June,2018. After receiving the notice, the company deposited Rs 3 million in favor of the Customs Department on 11th  June,  2018.A
