KARACHI: Transportation of the Afghan Transit Cargo is being hampered due to delays at the hands of the terminal operators who are causing delaying tactics in handling, grounding, weighing and maintenance of scanning, it is learnt here.
Sources close to the Directorate General of Transit Trade said that the scanning has been reduced from 100 percent to 20 percent.
However, some other sources claimed that due to the limited capacity of work force, a fewer numbers of vehicles and limited resources, the terminal operators are finding themselves unable to cope up with the situation.
Moreover, they claimed that he terminal operators are attaching much importance to the domestic and international imports and keep the Afghan Transit Cargo at the secondary level.
They were of the view that if the authorities concerned did not take notice of the situation, all efforts of the transit trade directorate would go in vain.
