AFU is facing shortfall but it will be made up thru auctions of gold & other goods

ISLAMABAD: The Air Freight Unit (AFU) Islamabad collected Rs569million All Duty Taxes during April of Financial Year FY2016-17.

According to Deputy Collector AFU Shahid Jan, although the AFU is facing a shortfall of Rs200million during the current financial year FY2016-17 yet it will be compensated when gold valued Rs130million deposited into the Mint Department will be sold and money will be deposited into the account of the AFU in the coming months. The shortfall will also be compensated through auctions of different impounded goods in the current month of May 2016-17.

During the month of April, the AFU received Rs196million Customs Duty whereas it did Rs256million Sales Tax. The AFU got Rs120million Withholding Tax and it also fetched Rs320million Federal Excise Duty during April FY 2016-17.

Though the AFU had given hard revised collection targets of all duty taxes from March to June 2016-17 yet even then it surpassed its collection targets under the head of ST and CD.
