PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Friday said that agreements inked with China in diversified sectors would open up new avenues of progress and development in the country adding that no change has been made in Kashgar-Gwadar route and rebuffed all notions to this effect.

Talking to media, after offering Fateha for the departed soul of Senator Azam Khan Hoti at Mardan, he said that the historic visit of the Chinese President in-fact laid solid foundation of development and prosperity in the country.

He held the agreements with China as historic in terms of investment which has no precedence in the world history. These MoUs would not be restricted only to announcements and it would be implemented in letter and spirit.

China is our trust worthy friend and inking agreements worth billions of rupees would change destiny of the nation. Now it is our responsibility to work for the success of these agreements and both the federation and the federating units should take joint steps towards this end. The era of darkness would soon end.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Federal government would take the political leadership of KPK on Kashgar-Gwadar route soon.

Federal Minister Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal would soon be visiting the KPK to remove apprehensions of the political leadership of the province in this regard.

The Prime Minister’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia was just for mutual consultation with the Saudi leadership, he told a questioner.

To a question he said that China inked USD2bn agreements for repair of grid stations and electric lines while 700 Megawatt power generation projects would be completed in KPK.

Paying rich tributes to late Senator Azam Khan Hoti, CM Punjab said that the country lost a great politician. Late Hoti Sahib had close relations with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Governor KPK Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan and Federal Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan were also present on the occasion.
