Remand of alleged cell phones smuggler extended

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling remanded an alleged cell phone smuggler into the custody of customs by extending his judicial remand, besides adjourning 8 other cases on Friday.

As per details, an accused Tariq Kazmi was arrested by the Customs at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore when he was coming back from a Gulf state following the recovery of 70 costly cell phones from his luggage. The authorities of Lahore Customs presented him before the court where the accused was sent on judicial remand.

After expiry of remand, the accused was against presented before the court where Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan approved his further judicial remand for 14 days.

In another mobile smuggling case, the court recorded statements of the parties and adjourned it for next week. Cases against Sajjad haider and Mushtaq Hussain were also scheduled on Friday in which court recorded statements regarding cases.

On Friday, total 9 different cases were scheduled for hearing in which a post arrest bail plea of Yar Muhammad yari was also included that customs court has adjiourned for next Tuesday.
