ANF recovers 1.86 tons of narcotics worth Rs 1.12b in 15 countrywide operations

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 1.86 tons of narcotics worth Rs 1.12 billion in 15 countrywide operations. The recovered drugs comprised 1.847 tons hashish, 5.6 kg amphetamine, 950 gram methamphetamine, 1 kg heroin and 7.2 kg opium.

During these operations, the ANF arrested 17 drug traffickers, including three women, and seized three vehicles. Operations were carried out in Islamabad, Attock, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Multan, Faisalabad, Nowshehra, Haripur, Karachi, Lasbela and Quetta.

According to details, ANF Karachi while acting on a tip-off raided a house situated at Jhola Lal Chowk, Muhammad Khan Colony, Itehad Town, Karachi and seized 1750 kg hashish stocked at the house. However, an accused succeeded to flee from the scene taking advantage of the darkness.  In another operation, ANF Karachi arrested a passenger named Mir Ghazan resident of Swabi at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi and seized 950 gram methamphetamine from his possession.

He intended to take off for Jeddah by flight no. PA-1707. Yet in another operation, ANF Karachi recovered 42kg hashish from possession of the accused namely Muhammad Nabi who was arrested near Taj Hotel, Al-Madina Coach, Al-Asif Square, Super Highway, Karachi.

ANF Rawalpindi arrested a passenger identified as Noor Khan resident of Swat at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, recovering 1.114 kg amphetamine, which was concealed in the base of his suitcase. He was boarding for Saudi Arabia by Shaheen Airline flight no. NL-739. In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier near Hajji Shah Stop, GT Road, district Attock and recovered 1kg hashish from his possession.

ANF Lahore intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Al-Saddat Hotel, Sargodha-Gujrat Road, Mandi Bahah-Ud-Din and recovered 2.2kg opium from a person on board named Munawar Iqbal. In another operation, ANF Lahore recovered 440 gram heroin from possession of local drug peddler namely Aftab Ahmed resident Sialkot who was arrested at Daska Chowk, Sambrial, Sialkot. Yet in another operation, ANF Lahore airport team arrested a passenger named Abdul Latif resident of Vehari at Multan Airport, while he was boarding for Jaddah by Airblue flight no. PA-870, recovering 450 gram amphetamine, concealed in his suitcase. The accused also confessed of having heroin filled capsules in his belly. In fourth operation, ANF Lahore arrested an accused named Sheikh Zahid Mehmood resident of Faisalabad, recovering 650 gram heroin from his possession. He was arrested form Kohistan Bus Stand, Faisalabad.

ANF Peshawar in an operation from Baffa Mera, Nokot Road, Bhirkond, Mansehra, recovering 30kg hashish from possession of the accused persons namely Mujeeb-ur-Rehman resident Mansehra and Saeed Zar resident of Mansehra. Drug was concealed in their luggage. In another operation, ANF Peshawar arrested 2 ladies named Taslima resident of Charsadah and Aqsa resident of Rawalpindi, while they were travelling in a passenger van near Rashakai Motorway Interchange, Nowshehra, recovering 5 kg opium and 7.5kg hashish from their personal possession.

Yet in another operation, ANF Peshawar apprehended a lady named Haneefa resident of Rawalpindi and recovered 6 kg jashish from her possession. She was arrested while travelling in a passenger van near Rashakai Interchange, Nowshehra. In fourth operation, ANF Peshawar recovered 4 kg hashish from personal possession of persons including Muhammad Ali resident of Attock and Sohail Akhtar resident of Haripur, while they were ridding on a motorcycle near Shell Petrol Pump, KKH Road, Tube Well Stop, Haripur.

NF Quetta on intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Baqai Hospital, Quetta Karachi Highway, Lasbela and recovered 4 kg amphetamine concealed in it. A person on board namely Abdul Hakeem resident of Quetta, was arrested on the spot. In another operation, ANF Quetta raided near main Sadabahar Bus Terminal, Sarayab Road, Quetta, arresting a drug supplier identified as Abdullah resident of Quetta along with 6.688 kg hashish.  All cases have been registered in ANF police stations and further investigations are under progress.
