ANF recovers 257 kg narcotics, arresting 14 persons

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 160 kg heroin, 96 kg charas and 1.2 kg opium in 12 operations against drug mafia, besides arresting 14 drug smugglers including a South African national.

ANF conducted 12 operations against drug mafia in various cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi, said a press release.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, detained a South African national Prince Glen Leonard on suspicion of having gulped heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, he confessed the concealment of heroin filled capsules in his belly.

ANF Lahore on pursuance of an intelligence report, raided the premises situated in Larex Colony, Garhi Shahoo, Lahore. Detailed search of the premises resulted in recovery of 146 kg heroin from said place. Five individuals involved in drug trafficking namely Salahuddin, Shahid Mehmud, Zahid Iqbal and Adeel Nadeem, and Rashida Nadeem, all residents of Lahore were arrested during the operation.

ANF Lahore arrested a motorcyclist namely Muhammad Javed, resident of Okara and recovered 18 kg charas and 1.2 kg opium concealed in his luggage. As per initial investigations, the accused was involved in supply of drugs to nearby localities.

Similarly, ANF Lahore intercepted a parcel containing cricket balls at TCS office Lahore and recovered 380 gram heroin tactfully concealed inside the balls. According to details, parcel was being sent by Dollar Surgical & Sports Instruments and was intended to be received at Warden Avenue, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.

ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Alto Car bearing registration No. LEB-2802 near Lahore Bus Stand and apprehended two occupants of the car, including Safdar Hussain, resident of Lahore and her lady accomplice Salma Bibi, resident of Sialkot. During search of the car, 14.4 Kg charas was recovered from improvised cavities of the car. As per initial reports, the accused were involved in supply of drugs at city level.

ANF Lahore on tip-off intercepted a Honda City Car at Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore. Search of the car led recovery of 21.6 kg charas stuffed in secret cavities of the car. Two drug trafficker, both residents of Lahore were taken into custody.

ANF Peshawar during search of a Rawalpindi bound Hiace at main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, held a suspected passenger namely Jalil Khan, resident of Khyber Agency and recovered 2.4 kg charas concealed in his luggage. As per reports, he intended to deliver drug to some local drug dealer at Rawalpindi.

ANF Karachi raided a house situated in Block-K, Nazimabad-2, Karachi and seized 13 kg heroin from the house. As per initial investigation, heroin was placed for handing over to some other narcotics gang.

ANF Karachi during an operation conducted in the area of Ali Brohi Goth, Landhi, Karachi, arrested a local drug supplier namely Saleem Khan and recovered 25 kg charas from his possession. As per preliminary investigations, the accused is involved in delivery of drugs for the last several years.

ANF Karachi also seized a UK destined parcel at TCS office Karachi. During checking of the parcel, 180 gram heroin was recovered from embroidery of a bridal suit. The parcel was dispatched by Muhammad Haroon, resident of Peshawar and was to be received by an individual namely Raja Waheed, residing at Litton, UK.

ANF Karachi acted upon secret information and raided a place situated near Dargah Usman Shah, Hyderabad city. The operation resulted in seizure of 13 kg charas from the premises.  ANF Karachi arrested two local drug peddlers namely Muhammad Bilal and Aqeel Ahmed, both residents of Karachi along with recovery of 1.5 kg charas from their personal possession. They were arrested near Paradise Bakers, Hassan Isphahani Road, Karachi.

Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective police stations and investigations are under process.
