ANF recovers 680kg heroin, 120kg charas, 8.4kg opium worth Rs 4.66b

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 680kg heroin, 120kg charas and 8.4kg opium in six operations conducted at Pishin, Chaman, Karachi, Shikarpur, Peshawar and Sargodha. During the operations, the ANF also arrested four drug offenders and seized two vehicles from their possessions. The total value of all the recovered drugs is approximately Rs 4.66 billion in international market, said a press release.

According to details, ANF Quetta acting upon information conducted a raid in the area of Maham Dara, near Pak Afghan Border, Kili Sardar Kamal Khan, Tehsil Birshor, District Pishin and intercepted 680 kg heroin. The heroin was packed in 384 plastic packets, out of which 80 packets weighed 5 kg, 100 packets weighed 2 kg and 84 packets weighed 1 kg each. The packets were kept in 3 sacks. The operation also resulted in recovery of a Hilux Surf vehicle registered No. AKC-668. The smugglers fled away in mountainous area taking advantage of darkness.

ANF Quetta conducted a raid in general areas of Sheelabagh, District Chaman and recovered 108 kg charas. The Drugs were kept in a deserted house at Chaman. As per the information, the consignment was in transit and was being transferred to Panjgur for onwards despatch to some destination abroad.

ANF Karachi Airport Team arrested a person Zain Ul Abideen resident of Faisalabad at Jinnah International Airport Karachi on suspicion of having ingested heroin filled capsules in stomach. As per initial investigation, the culprit confessed of having 70 heroin filled capsules in his stomach. As per the details, the accused was to travel from Karachi to Bangkok by Thai Airways Flight No. TG-508.

ANF Karachi arrested a proclaimed offender namely Wahid Bux Brohi resident of Shikarpur from Brohi Colony, Shikarpur. The accused was a nominated culprit in 2 FIRs No. 10/2012 under section & 03/2014 both under section 9C CNS Act.

ANF Peshawar Road Check Team apprehended an accused at Jamrud Road, Peshawar and recovered 6 kg charas from his personal possession. The accused person namely Zafar Khan is resident of Khyber Agency and was involved in smuggling of drugs from KP to local drug peddlers.

ANF Lahore Road Checking Team, during routine checking apprehended a vehicle registered No. LED-6649 at Salam Interchange Sargodha and during search recovered 8.4 kg opium and 6 kg charas from its secret cavities. Driver of the vehicle Imran Khan resident of Peshawar was arrested on the spot. The drugs were being smuggled to Punjab for usage at local level.

All cases have been registered in ANF Police stations and further investigations are under process.
