ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) has seized Rs6.6 billion worth of drugs, including 1.05 ton amphetamine, 2.87 ton opium, 25.7kg heroin and 4kg hashish, and arrested three accused drug traffickers in five raids in different cities.
The ANF Quetta seized 2,878kg opium and 1,056kg amphetamine from Killi Surkhab, Tehsil Khanozai, district Pishin. The drugs were concealed at a site situated in the cuttings of mountainous terrains far away from the populated area. As per initial information, the drug consignment was placed at a cache site for handing over to another narcotics gang for onward transportation to some foreign location.
The ANF Rawalpindi airport team, during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, detained a passenger identified as Suleman Khan, resident of Swat, who intended to board for Italy via Doha by Qatar Airline Flight No QR-633, and recovered 750g heroin. Heroin was tactfully concealed in his shoes.
In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi Airport team apprehended an Abu Dhabi-bound passenger indentified as Ghulam Abbas, resident of Sargodha, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport and recovered 1kg ice concealed in his luggage. He was intended to take off by Emirates Airline Flight No. EK-2553 scheduled for Abu Dhabi.
The ANF Lahore raided a place situated near Numal College, Talagang Road, Mianwali and held an individual namly Raheem Khan, resident of Khyber Agency, along with 4kg hashish.
Meanwhile, the ANF Karachi while acting on a tip-off intercepted a Honda Civic Car near Al-Habib Restaurant, Northern Bypass Road, Gadaap. However, the persons on board managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of the darkness. The search of the car led to recovery of 25kg heroin which was concealed in secret cavities of the car.
All the cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigation is underway.
