ANF seizes 321kg drugs in eight operations

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 321kg drugs, including 2.5kg heroin, 318kg hashish and 500 grams opium and arrested eight accused drug traffickers in eight operations.

As per details here issued on Thursday, the ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team arrested two drug carriers including a lady named Fouzia Bibi, resident of Haripur along with her male accomplice named Abdul Haq resident of Peshawar. The operation resulted in recovery of 7kg hashish, which was found in their personal possession.

After initial investigation, another accused named Zeeshan Iqbal, resident of Rawalpindi, reportedly, a source of supply was also taken into custody from Taxila bus stop, Taxila along with recovery of 500 grams opium.

An ANF team during routine profiling at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, detained a suspected lady named Shabana Bibi who intended to board for Colombo by Flight No MJ 186. During interrogation, the accused confessed of carrying heroin filled capsules. Later, 500 grams heroin was recovered from the said capsules.

The ANF Lahore airport team also held a passenger identified as Ghulam Abbas, resident of Chakwal at Faisalabad Airport and recovered two kg heroin from his trolley bag. The accused intended to board for Jeddah by Qatar Airlines Flight No QR-623.

Moreover, ANF Peshawar road check team recovered 2.4 kg hashish from personal possession of a lady named Sultan Zari alias Dilshad while she was travelling in a Rawalpindi bound passenger van near Main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar.

ANF Karachi on pursuance of an information, raided a premises situated at Sing Lane, Chakivara Road, Lyari, Karachi and seized 215 kg hashish from the place. However, the accused managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of the darkness. As per preliminary information, the premises was being used as a drug den.

In another operation, ANF Karachi airport team apprehended a suspected passenger named Akbar Ali resident of Charsadah at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, who confessed of having gulped heroin filled capsules during interrogation. The accused intended to board for Abu Dhabi by PIA flight No PK-237.

Yet in another operation, ANF Karachi in an-information based interception, stopped and searched a car registered No. QAG 9233 at Super Highway near Karachi, recovering 48 kg hashish from secret cavities of the car. A drug carrier named Abdul Saeed was also taken into custody.

ANF Quetta seized 46 kg hashish while carrying out an intelligence led operation near Coastal Highway, Gawadar. The drug was hidden in a Straw Hut situated in unpopulated area of Shinkani Dar, Costal Highway, Gawadar.

The cases have been registered at respective the respective ANF police stations and further investigation is underway.
