ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized Rs 4.2 billion worth of 6.8 tonne narcotics, including 6.8 tonne hashish, 4.28kg heroin, 1.48kg amphetamine and 2.25kg opium during its ongoing countrywide anti-drug drive while carrying out 25 operations.
The ANF also arrested 34 drug peddlers including a female suspect and a foreigner and also seized eight vehicles.
ANF Director General Major General Nasir Dilawar Shah recently announced crackdown against street drug peddlers and narcotics dens across the country.
According to details issued here on Wednesday, ANF Quetta in a successful intelligence led operation seized 6.682 tonne hashish from District Qilla Abdullah. The drug consignment was concealed at an uninhabited site located in mountainous area of Killi Suleman Khel, Tehsil Gulistan. As per preliminary reports, the drug consignment was intended to be shifted to coastal area of Balochistan for final dispatch to some unidentified location.
In another operation, the ANF Quetta arrested three street drug peddlers, identified as Habib Ullah, Ahmed Ullah and Aman Ullah, all residents of Quetta and recovered one kg hashish from their possession. They were arrested near New Shamsabad Hotel, Quetta.
The ANF Rawalpindi arrested a street drug peddler near Car Chowk, Dhoke Chaudrian, Rawalpindi and recovered 1.2kg heroin from his personal possession.
In another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler from Dina bus stop, Jhelum and recovered 120 gram hashish from his possession. Yet in another operation, the ANF team arrested an accused from Mangla Bypass, near Attock Petrol Pump, Dina and recovered 230 gram opium. The accused was involved in local drug peddling.
In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a female drug peddler along with 600 gram heroin. She was arrested from Chah Sultan, Rawalpindi. The ANF Rawalpindi airport team also arrested a Nigerian National named Ezugwu Christian Chinedu at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad on suspicion of ingested heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed to having heroin filled capsules in his belly. Later on, 1.28 kg heroin was recovered from heroin filled capsules. He intended to board for Abuja via Istanbul by Turkish Airline Flight No TK-711.
In sixth operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near Bagha Morr, Chak Baili Road and recovered 7.5kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. Two persons on-board were arrested on the spot. In seventh operation, the ANF Rawalpindi recovered 360 gram heroin from a drug peddler who was arrested while riding on motorcycle in E-11, Islamabad.
The ANF Lahore while acting on a tip-off intercepted a double cabin pick-up and a Suzuki Cultus car near Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore. Search of the vehicles led to seizure of 36kg hashish, which was concealed in improvised cavities of the vehicles. Three drug traffickers identified as Maqbool Hussain and Malik Muhammad Iqbal Shaid, residents of Faisalabad and Muhammad Ishaq, resident of Nankana Sahib were also arrested during the operation.
In an operation, the ANF Lahore arrested a local drug peddler Muhammad Habib, resident of Faisalabad, while he was travelling in a car near Daewoo Bus Terminal Faisalabad, recovering 75 gram heroin from his possession. Yet in another operation, the ANF team arrested a passenger named Liaqat Masih, resident of Multan at Multan Airport, while he was boarding for Taif by Fly Dubai Airlines Flight No. FZ-340 and recovered 1.48kg amphetamine concealed in his luggage.
The ANF Karachi, on pursuance of an information, raided a premises situated at Abdul Raheem Brohi Goth, Sirjani Town, seized 132kg hashish and two kg opium. An accused identified as Abdul Majeed, resident of Karachi was also arrested during the operation. As per preliminary investigations, the premises was being used as narcotics den.
In another operation, the ANF Karachi arrested a street drug peddler named Nisar Ahmed, resident of Karachi and recovered 430 gram hashish from his possession. The accused was arrested near Daewoo Bus Terminal, Super Highway, Karachi.
Yet in another operation, the ANF Karachi arrested a local drug peddler namely Musa, resident of Karachi along with 330 gram hashish. He was arrested from Coastal Area, Ali Goth, Karachi. In fourth operation, the ANF team arrested an accused named Abdul Rashid resident of Malir, involved in local drug peddling and recovered 300 gram hashish from his possession. He was arrested Karachi from Rehri Goth, Malir, Karachi.
In fifth operation, the ANF Karachi arrested a local drug peddler namely Manzoor Hussain, resident of Sukkur near Shaukat Shah Hotel, Memon Mohallah, Goth Baghar Gee, Sukkur and recovered 400 gram hashish from his personal possession. In sixth operation, the ANF team recovered 250 gram hashish while arresting an accused namely Rehmat Ullah. He was arrested from Mirani Muhallah, Bachal Shah Miani, Sukkur.
In seventh operation, the ANF Karachi while raiding at Fruit Mandi, Kela Market, Hyderabad City, arrested a drug peddler named Muhammad Ramzan, resident of Hyderabad along with recovery of 630 gram hashish.
In eighth operation, the ANF team arrested Zulfiqar Shah, resident of Karachi and recovered 650 gram hashish from his possession. As per reports, the accused was involved in local drug peddling. He was arrested from Chakra Goth, Korangi No 1, Karachi. In ninth operation, ANF Karachi in a raid conducted near Agha Khan Apartments, G. Block, Ghazi Goth, Karachi, arrested a drug peddler named Roshan Ali, resident of Malir along with 310 gram hashish.
The ANF Peshawar arrested a drug peddler identified as Arshad Shahzad, resident of Toba Tek Singh and recovered one kg keroin from his possession. He was arrested from Faisal Movers Bus Stand, Peshawar. After initial investigation, his accomplice named Abdul Qadir, resident of Khyber Agency was also arrested from Phase-III Chowk, Peshawar.
In another operation, the ANF Peshawar arrested a drug carrier Muhammad Qayyum, resident of Khyber Agency along with 1.2 kg hashish. He was arrested while travelling in a passenger van near Main Motorway toll plaza, Peshawar.
Yet in another operation, the ANF Peshawar intercepted a Toyota Hiace near Motorway toll plaza, Peshawar and recovered two kg hashish concealed inside bonnet of the vehicle. A driver of the vehicle identified as named Lal Khan, resident of Khyber Agency was also arrested on the spot.
In fourth operation, the ANF arrested two drug peddlers, identified as Saood Khan and Jangraiz, residents of Peshawar and recovered 30 gram hashish from their possession. They were intercepted while riding on a car near Karkhano Market, Peshawar. In fifth operation, the ANF Peshawar apprehended two persons namely Sibtain Haider Shah and Faizan Mehmood, residents of Haripur, recovering 130 gram hashish from their possession. They were arrested near Dhinda Chowk, Circular Road, Haripur while travelling on a motorcycle.
All cases have been registered at the respective ANF stations and further investigations are underway.
