ANF seizes 948kg drugs worth Rs 6.2 billion

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered Rs 6.2 billion worth of 948kg drugs, including 897kg heroin, 37kg hashish, 8kg methamphetamine and 6kg opium during countrywide operations in Islamabad, Attock, Lodhran, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Karachi and Pashin.

The anti-drug force also apprehended 25 drug peddlers including five women.

As per details, the ANF Quetta team, in a successful intelligence-led operation, seized 886 kg heroin from Pishin district. The drug consignment was concealed at an uninhabited site situated in mountainous area of Killi Gawal of the district.

Similarly, the ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a vehicle at Tarnol, GT Road, and recovered 10 kg heroin. The team also arrested a drug smuggler on board. In another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi recovered 5 kg hashish from a drug peddler who was also arrested. Yet in another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a vehicle near IJP Road, Faizabad, and recovered 3.6 kg hashish, besides arresting an accused on board. In fourth operation, a local drug peddler was arrested which led to seizure of 2.5 kg hashish from him.

Meanwhile, the ANF Lahore team intercepted a vehicle near Satlaj Toll Plaza, Lodhran and recovered 4.8 kg hashish. An accused on board, Muhammad Shoaib Khan, was also arrested. In another operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a vehicle near Babu Sabu Chowk, and recovered 2.4 kg opium and 6 kg hashish.

Three accused were also arrested during the operation. Yet in another operation, the ANF Lahore arrested a drug supplier, Shahid Bilal, and recovered 1.2 kg hashish from him.

In fourth operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a vehicle near Main Motorway Toll Plaza, Faisalabad, and recovered 3.6 kg opium and 3.6 kg hashish concealed in it. A drug smuggler was also arrested on the spot.

Moreover, the ANF Peshawar recovered 2.4 kg hashish from Abid Ali and Farman Ullah both residents of Khyber Agency, while they were travelling in a passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar. In second operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered 1.2 kg hashish from Sadaqat Hussain, who was arrested from a passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza. In third operation, the ANF Peshawar Airport Team arrested a passenger Ikram Hakim, which led to seizure of 1.2 kg hashish from his trolley bag. In fourth operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered 900 grams hashish from a drug peddler while he was travelling in a passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar.

Similarly, the ANF Karachi Airport Team arrested six foreign bound passengers named Muhammad Rizwan, Sabra, Robina, Sadaf Saleem, Robina Bibi and Rabia Bibi at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, and recovered 8 kg methamphetamine concealed in their luggage.

In another operation, the ANF Karachi recovered 680 grams heroin from a parcel at a courier service company. The drugs were concealed in toy books. Yet in another operation, the ANF Karachi arrested two local drug suppliers, Shoaib Ahmed and Zubair Ahmed, and recovered 5.1 kg hashish from them. They were arrested from Village Mando Dero, Sukkur. In fourth operation, the ANF Karachi arrested a drug peddler identified as Nabi Bux along with 1.5 kg hashish. In fifth operation, the ANF Karachi arrested a local drug supplier namely Muhammad Shahzad which led to seizure of 1 kg hashish.

All cases have been registered in respective ANF police stations and further investigations are in progress.
