PESHAWAR: The Anti-Narcotics Force recovered drug worth one billion rupees across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and some other parts of the country and arrested 22 accused along with seizing two vehicles.
The ANF sources said that raids were carried out in Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber Agency, Gilgit-Baltistan, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Quetta and some other parts of the country. During 18 different raids, narcotics worth one billion rupees were seized from the possession of various drug dealers. The seized items include 756 kilogramme opium, 107 kilogramme Chars and five kilogramme heroin.
During the said smuggling activities, a foreign woman was also held. One of the raids was also carried out in Panjgor Bypass and yet another raid was executed on Rawalpindi Sun-raise Bakers in Satellite Town where some 100 gram heroin was recovered from the possession of one Umar Taj.
In another crackdown in Peshawar, the ANF recovered capsules from the stomach of Mohammad Iqbal on the way to Saudi Arabia. He had hidden the capsules into his stomach after getting him operated. After further interrogation, Samar Gul, Majeed Khan, Shaheen Shah, Sahib Rasool and Sardar were arrested and some 560 kilogramme heroin was recovered from them.
Meanwhile, the Khasadar Force of Khyber Agency foiled a bid of smuggling of fertilizer from Pakistan to Afghanistan and recovered a huge quantity from a truck on Torkham Border the other day.
The political administration official told Customs Today that Khasadar personnel stopped an Afghanistan bound vehicle loaded with tomatoes for a routine checking. During the search, 400 bags (50-kg each) were recovered from the concealed tomato-boxes.
A smuggling case was registered and one person, identified as Rauf s/o Mohammad Rahim, a resident of Bala Manray, Peshawar, was arrested and sent to Landi Kotal lockup for investigation, Khasadar sources informed.
It may be mentioned here that fertilizer is one of the banned items meant not to export to Afghanistan.
