ANF destroys poppy crop on 45 acres in Sindh

KARACHI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has destroyed poppy crop on 45 acres of land in various parts of the Sindh province, sources said.

According to the details, the Sindh ANF conducted a series of operations at general areas Ghaibi Dero and Hamal Lake, the district Qambar Shahdad Kot bordering Balochistan and destroyed poppy crops.

Operation to destruct Poppy cultivation was held in two phases. In the first phase, the operation was carried out in the villages Konker, Masjid, Seetly and Rahoo Ja Aathya where approximately 35 acres of poppy cultivation lands was destroyed.

In the second phase, the ANF carried out an operation in village Bajak. The alleged cultivators exchanged fires with the official team in which one person was wounded.

In an ensuring operation, an additional force and Rangers were called in who apprehended two suspects and destroyed 10 acres of remaining poppy crop.

The officers of the ANF have registered the cases against the culprits and investigation have been started to apprehend the master minds.

The source informed Customs Today that the operation was carried to stop the smuggling of the drugs to the foreign countries through sea and land due to the smuggling of the drugs the name of the country was on stake.
