Anti-Smuggling Organisation seizes smuggled ceramic tiles worth Rs 3.35m

FAISALABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized illegally imported foreign origin1500 square meters ceramic tiles worth of Rs 335,120.

On the directions of Collector Tauseef Ahmed Quareshi, the Faisalabad ASO seized the tiles during a raid on Bismillah Ceramics. The ASO staff asked Muhammad Junaid Sethi, who was present there, to produce any documentary evidence showing the legal import and lawful possession of the tiles. But he could not produce any documents relating to its legal import or lawful possession. The owner of the foreign origin Ceramic Tiles was also directed to produce record maintained under section 121 of the Customs Act 1969. In the light of above narrated facts it is clear that the seized foreign origin ceramic tiles were smuggled and brought into the country without payment of duty and taxes. The tiles are confiscated under the relevant customs Law.
