ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Technology Anusha Rehman has been nominated by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as Commissioner of the Broadband Commission.
The Broadband Commission is an international body which is meant for the proliferation of broadband in the world. It was established in May 2010 by ITU and UNESCO jointly for Digital Development in response to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s call to step up UN efforts to meet the Millennium Development Goals Commission’s objective is to boost the importance of broadband on the international policy agenda, and expand broadband access in every country as key to accelerating progress towards national and international development targets.
The Broadband Commission engages in high-level advocacy to promote broadband in developing countries and underserved communities.
