ISLAMABAD: Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) has assured the apex court to speed-up the hearing of cases at tribunal office in the capital.
This was assured by the tribunal registrar before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) after the court had expressed the resentment for ignoring the court directives pertaining to the hearing of tax complaints.
The tribunal’s registrar had pleaded before the court that it would speed-up the hearing of cases which mainly involves tax matters carrying complaints from citizens and FBR field offices, i.e. Large Taxpayers’ Unit and Regional Tax Office (RTO).
ATIR, which is authorized to hear and decide income tax, sales tax and federal excise duty’s complaints relating to FBR, has not been consistent with cases hearing since retirement of former chairman, Javid Iqbal couple of months ago.
