Appraisement East faces shortage of staff Customs

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Appraisement East is finding it very hard to ensure speedy disposal of clearance process as the field formation is facing shortage of staff since long, it is learnt.

The sanctioned strength of the Customs Appraisement East is around 110 employees, however, the strength has never been completed and the department always remained understaff. Now the workload has almost become double which is hindering the day-to-day functions of the department, sources told Customs Today.

At present, there is a staff of 81 persons in Appraisement East, however, the workload is being increased gradually. Most of the senior staff members have retired or are near to retirement while no new appointment has been made since long, the sources disclosed.

“We have requested the FBR to make new appointments in the Appraisement East so that the future workload could be catered in a befitting manner”, sources added.
