Auditor IR Shafqat Mehmood appointed as representative in Appellate Tribunal

ISLAMABAD: The Regional Tax Office has appointed Auditor Inland Revenue Shafqat Mehmood as a representative in the Appellate Tribunal and he has been assigned the task to look after sales tax cases.

Sources told Customs Today that Chief Commissioner Noshad Ali Khan has approved his name for representation in the Appellate Tribunal and Additional Commissioner Headquarter Saleem Akhtar has issued a notification in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has submitted a budget proposal regarding Information Technology (IT) for upcoming fiscal year 2016-17

The Federal Finance Ministry has also granted approval to this proposal. The purpose of reducing tax from 8 percent to 2 percent is to promote IT and to boost IT exports.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Software Export Board and IT sector are demanding form long time to reduce the percentage of tax as the imposition of 8 percent tax has destroyed the export of IT in the country.
