Appraisement West detects short payment of Rs 12 million by M/s Artistic Denims Mills

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement West’s Research and Development has detected a short realization of Rs 12 million following non-implementation of Valuation Ruling by an importer M/s Artistic Denims Mills Limited, it is learnt.

The official sources told Customs Today that the Directorate General of Customs Valuation had determined the values of Formic Acid under Section 25-A of the Customs Act, 1969 vide Valuation Ruling No 627/2014 dated 24.12.2013.

However, during scrutiny of data of assessment, it has been that the aforementioned goods were released through Green Channel without application of Valuation Ruling, sources added.

The non-application of Valuation Ruling resulted into short realisation of Rs 120,798, according to sources.

According to Deputy Collector Appraisement West Ghulam Nabi Kamboh the importer imported Formic acid in bulk packing manufactured by BASF i.e. 21492 kilograms at an assessed value of $0.60, however the values as per valuation ruling stood at $ 0.780/kg under.

Thus an amount of Rs 120,798 (.12 million) has been short-paid by the importer M/s Artistic Denm Mills Ltd, sources concluded.
