Appraisement-West detects short recovery up to Rs50m from telecom sector: ADC Nayyar

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate MCC Appraisement-West authorities have started their departmental proceedings in order to act upon audit paras sent by the Directorate general of Internal Audit-Customs.

The Additional Collector (ADC)-III Nayyar Shafiq informed Customs Today that the Collectorate has written to its respective groups in connection with the audit paras sent by the Internal Audit-Customs. He said that the relevant groups of Collectorate will look after the audit paras and then act accordingly upon the agreed amount mentioned in them.

ADC said that the relevant groups after scrutinizing the audit paras and agreeing upon the amount mentioned in them will issue short recovery demand notices against those defaulters who are involved in evading the legitimate duties.

He further informed that the MCC Appraisement-West has already detected around Rs 10 million to Rs 50 million short recovery in the telecommunication sector, Directorate General Internal Audit-Customs has also detected millions of rupees short recovery in terms of revenue in sectors including telecommunications, steel billets consignments and anti-dumping duty.

The Internal Audit-Customs has sent audit paras of recoverable amount in terms of short levy to the field formation Collectorates of MCC Appraisement-West, MCC Appraisement-East, MCC Appraisement Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, MCC Appraisement- Lahore and MCC Appraisement-Rawalpindi.
