KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West has instructed all the section of the collectorate to ensure compliance of the Supreme Court’s orders in enforcing Urdu language in the official correspondence.
In this regard, Deputy Collector (Law Section) Ghulam Nabi Kamboh has forwarded a letter to DC Customs Appraisement-West Hq/Admin to circulate the letter among all the sections for strict compliance.
“The aforesaid correspondence/orders are self-speaking, keeping in view the Supreme Court’s directions, it is requested to kindly circulate the same amongst the concerned sections/groups for compliance”, according to a letter.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan vide its order dated 8.9.2015 in the Constitutional Petition No 56/2002 and 112/2012 passed following directions.
“The provisions of Article 251 shall be implemented with full force and without unnecessary delay by the federal and provincial governments. The federal government as well as provincial governments should coordinate with each other for uniformity in the ‘rasmulkhat’ for the National Language. Federal as well as provincial laws should be translated in the national languages within three months. In the competitive examinations at federal level the recommendations of government bodies noted above should be considered by the government for implementation without unnecessary delay. In the court cases, government departments should make all reasonable efforts to submit their replies in Urdu to enable citizens to effectively enforce their legal rights.”
