Army Welfare Trust seeks exemption from federal excise duty on chartered flights

ISLAMABAD: The Army Welfare Trust has sent a letter to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), asking for 16 percent federal excise duty exemption for the chartered flights.

According to sources, managing director of the Army Welfare Trust, Khalid Rabbani, has asked in his letter that 16 percent duty has been imposed on chartered flights under the federal excise act while hajis and ambassadors are exempted from it.

He said in that the United Nation has provided funds for chartered flights for the army deployment under the UN mission and schedule of federal excise act at chartered flights under UN mission are not clearly mentioned. He demanded that the FBR should explain it and exempted the chartered flights under the UN mission from 16 percent federal excise duty.
