Arrest warrant issued against suspect involved in ISAF cargo pilferage case

KARACHI: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has repeated non-bailable arrest warrant for absconder in a case pertaining to the pilferage of ISAF cargo.

Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi adjourned the hearing of case till January 14. The court directed the investigation officer to make all-out efforts to arrest the accused.

According to the details of the case, M/s Ports Connection (Private) Limited, bonded carrier and M/s Saryal Cargo Channel and Customs Clearing Agency were found involve in the illegal and unauthorized pilferage of various consignments of ISAF meant for re-exportation from Mazar Sharif, Afghanistan to ISAF Germany through Torkham Customs Station, Peshawar via Port Qasim, Karachi.

According to the export documents, the containers were declared to contain batteries filled with acid and lamps. During examination at the port, instead of declared goods, the containers were found to contain a huge quantity of wooden pallets; sand bags, concrete blocks and 01 box used tube lights, whereas remaining nine containers were found as per declarations in the relevant goods declarations.
