Arrested Additional Collector shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital over ill-health

PESHAWAR: The Customs Collectorate Additional Collector Salman Yaqub has been shifted to hospital from police station owing to his ill-health.

The Town Police sources informed Customs Today that when Salman Yaqub killed his wife the police arrested him with weapon and he was shifted to jail. The health condition of Customs officer was not satisfactory at the time of his arrest.

After a day, health condition of the additional collector further worsened due to which he was shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar.

It is necessary to mention here that due to serious drug addiction Additional Collector Salman Yaqub killed his wife over small domestic dispute. The police provided strict security to the additional collector who is on bed rest for last few days.

The police sources said that he was a customs officer and very influential person so he was shifted to hospital before producing him before the court.

The police sources added that he surely will be produced before the court once the doctors issued health certificate after completion of medical treatment. The police have been cooperating with the customs officer but he will not be allowed to misguide the police investigation.

As soon as the medical report of the additional collector is issued, special arrangements will be made to present him before the court in order to move the case in positive direction.

Brother-in-law of Salman Yaqub said that police are giving favors to the Customs officer. He demanded of the Customs high-ups and police to treat him as a killer rather than a patient.

The Customs authorities informed Customs Today that Customs Department would not provide protection to the accused additional collector and he has to face charges leveled against him.

Salman Yaqub was recently appointed as Additional Collector Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar.
