Asma Hameed issues 10 show cause notices in smuggling cases

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued ten show cause notices to accused parties in different cases of smuggling here on Thursday directing them to file their replies in the cases in next hearing.

All the notices were issued through the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Faisalabad, Jhang and Sargodha, Air Freight Unit (AFU), Customs Intelligence and Investigation as all the cases were registered by all above-mentioned departments respectively.

As many as five show cause notice were sent through Sargodha ASO. the show cause notices were sent to Ashiq Ali in a smuggled Hiace van bearing Registration No LHO-9697, Muhammed Ijaz and Noureen in a smuggled Hiace van bearing No JF-1549, Raiz Ali and Mohammed Riaz in smuggled auto parts case, while fifth show cause notice was served on Javed Iqbal who is allegedly involved in a smuggled Jimni Jeep bearing Registration No LOD-8211.

The deputy collector issued three show cause notices through Faisalabad ASO. A notice was issued to Manzoor Rashid in cloth smuggling case, while another notice was served on Mohammad Khalid, Qasim Ali and Noor Mohammed in the smuggling case. The adjudication issued third notice on M/s Cress Style.

In a tyres’ smuggling case detected by the Jhang ASO, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to Muhammad Saleem, alleged smuggler.

The deputy collector has directed all the parties to appear before the authority with documented evidence regarding the legal import of the items and with replies in their respective cases. The adjudication also asked the accused person as to why items should not be confiscated under the customs law.
