ASO confiscates contraband items, truck worth Rs 3.2m

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate’s Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized smuggled goods worth Rs 2.2 million, besides impounding the offender vehicle worth Rs 1 million during an action.

The ASO following credible information intercepted a Mazda truck bearing Registration No GLTB-1771 near jehlum for checking. The official conducted thorough search of the vehicle and recovered 776 kilogram of textile fabric, 65kg silk fabric, 156kg cotton silk fabric, 1800kg J.M Gutka, 360kg mini umbrella, 1900 cartons of cigarette, 590kg iron pad lock and 87 tyres.

The driver was asked to show documents regarding customs clearances if he had, but he remained fail to do the same. Therefore, the officials confiscated the items considering them smuggled, besides impounding the vehicle being used for the transportation of the smuggled items.

The ASO staff also arrested two persons and lodged cases against them under the customs laws.
