ASO confiscates smuggled items worth Rs 13.7m in 7 days

ISLAMABAD:  The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized different contraband goods worth Rs 13.719 million in second week of May.

Talking to Customs Today, Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that the department was working hard to meet the revenue target for the financial year 2015-16. He said that anti-smuggling campaign was going on and in second week (May 7-14), the performance of the collectorate remained better as it busted various smuggling attempts in the region.

The department seized 3325 kilogram of cloth worth Rs 2.071 million, auto parts valued at Rs160,565, offending vehicles worth Rs 4.2 million, tyres worth Rs 550,331, the deputy collector said.

He said that the anti-smuggling squad also seized miscellaneous goods worth Rs 2.379 million, non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 2.363 million, cigarettes valued at Rs 1.99 million.
