ASO impounds five vehicles, smuggled goods worth Rs4.567 million in last week of Dec

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad conducted various operations against smugglers and recovered contraband items from the possession of smugglers worth Rs4.567 million during the last week of December.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan constituted a team to curb smuggling in the region. The ASO team consisted of Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Masood Saeed Chauhan and Safdar Ali, Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (sepoys). The team impounded smuggled goods and two non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs1 million under Customs Act, 1969.

Sources said that ASO has confiscated three offending vehicles worth Rs2 million are being used smuggling transpiration, while impounded other one non duty paid smuggled vehicle worth Rs1 millionunder section (U/S 16 NDP). While in others items included foreign origin F/O Tyres tube (14-Nos), worth Rs250,000 and other miscellaneous items under the value of Rs1.2 million. All these items were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

Faisalabad ASO seized these items due to violation of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and forward the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action.
