ASO impounds non duty paid electric appliances from Abid Market

LAHORE: Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO)  has impounded 326 non-duty paid air-conditioners, 25 washing machines and 34 geezers from Abid Market.

According to the details,  the authorities seized the non-customs paid items from the godown of Afzal, Raheem and Ghulab Khan. The sources said that the total value of the non-duty paid items has been estimated at Rs1.5 million.

The customs officials said that the non-duty paid items were stored in the godowns of Afzal, Raheem and Ghulab Khan while they have illegally goods from Peshawar without paying duties and taxes, on the smuggled items.

The customs authorities seized assorted type of 197 split air conditioners, out-door air conditioners, 25 washing machines.

The customs authorities conducted the whole operation on the directions of Collector of Customs Ch Zulfiqar Ali and the operation was led by Deputy Collector of custom Moazam Raza.

The other member of the raiding team also includes Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Inspector Mansoor Ali.

The sources said that the operation against the smugglers has been undertaken in connection with the ongoing anti-smuggling drive on customs Lahore Preventive.

The sources said that the collector of Customs Ch Zulfiqar Ali has instructed to the officials of ASO to adopt zero tolerance against the smugglers who have been destroying the legal business in the city.
