ASO impounds offending vehicle, smuggled goods amounting to Rs.2.5m

ISLAMABAD: Anti Smuggling Organization of Customs Collectorate Islamabad impounded an offending vehicle (Bus) from Rawalpindi and seized miscellaneous foreign origin goods amounting of Rs.2.5 million.

According to details told by Deputy Collector ASO Shahid Jan that under pursuance of information shared by a reliable source of ASO, the ASO form a picket at Rawalpindi near Chungi No.26 and intercepted a bus bearing number LEJ-6387.

The deputy collector said that after interception of above said vehicle the ASO staff asked the driver to show any proof that the loaded goods are not smuggled but the driver failed to produced any relevant document which can prove that the goods who were loaded on the Bus are not smuggled.

He said that after collecting basic information regarding smuggled goods the ASO staff seized the bus as for as smuggled goods, adding that the ASO staff recovered goods as foreign origin digital receivers of 740 numbers, assorted size tires 46 Numbers and Made in India JK flavored tobacco for pan in quantity of 109 Kg the said smuggled goods seized under value of Rs.1.0 million.

Shahid Jan said that ASO impounded bus under Customs Act of 1969 clause of 157, the total value of seized vehicle was amounting Rs.1.5 million, the bus as for as seized goods shifted to the state wear house adding that FIR number 81/2016 has been registered against the smugglers and further investigation is under process.

Shahid Jan said that trend of smuggling in buses is more than other vehicles, adding that to impound of offending vehicles is very important to discourage the smuggling trends, the offending vehicles played central role to promote smuggling activities.
