LAHORE: The MCC Lahore Preventives Anti-Smuggling Organisation has seized illegally imported vehicles worth Rs 4.2 million involving duty and taxes of Rs 2 million, official sources told Customs Today.
The sources said that on information of Collector of Customs Mukarram Jah Ansari, the ASO intercepted illegally imported Land Cruiser worth Rs 3.5 million from the possession of Malik Nadeem, a resident of Gujranwala at the Babu Sabu Interchange.
The ASO demanded documents of clearance from Malik Nadeem against the Land Cruiser, however, he failed to produce any legal documents of the vehicle, the sources said, adding that finally the ASO team consisting Sajjad Bukhari and others under the supervision of Mumtaz Ajmal Mian impounded the vehicle.
Meanwhile the ASO also seized Nissan March /2004 from the possession of Faridul Haq, a resident of Johar Town.
Sources said that the owner was asked to produce documents of customs clearance but he also failed to show the documents and satisfactory reply. The value of the vehicle was at Rs 0.8 million, it was told.
