ASO impounds vehicle & fabric valued Rs1.15m on Attock Bridge

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad impounded worth Rs1.15million expensive smuggled fabric and an offending Toyota car on 03rd of January on Attock Bridge.

According to details, Deputy Superintendent (DS) Rana Shakeel received a tip-off by Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Arslan Sebugtaqeen that a car with registration No: LEO-8476 is going to pass through the Attock Bridge which is loaded with 300 kg of imported fabric.

The ASO staff intercepted the vehicle and demanded the drive to prove the legal status of the fabric and the vehicle but he failed to do so. Therefore the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded the cloths and vehicle under Section 168 and 157 of the Customs Act-1969 after serving a notice on the possessor of the goods under further Section 171 ibid.

The DS further told Customs Today that the team which confiscated goods comprises Deputy Superintendent Rana Shakeel, Deputy Superintendent Maqbool Hussain Shah and other supportive staff of the Preventive Department. The total value of the seized cloths and the offending vehicle was appraised Rs1.15million.
