ASO Jhang seizes foreign origin tyres, tubes worth thousands of rupees

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Jhang has seized illegally imported new tyres and tubes during a crackdown.

According to details, Faisalabad Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received information about some smuggling attempts. After receiving the information, the deputy collector formed a raiding team under the supervision of Saeed Akhtar Joiya (superintendent), Munir Ahmad, Shoukat Khan, (inspectors) Ghulam Abbas (driver) and Ghulam Sarwar Shah (sepoys).

The raiding team intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration no. DN 8939 near Doabba Goods Transport Company Faisalabad Road Jhang and found new tyres MMRT made in India and Japan and new tubes Taiwan brand. The market value of the tyres, tubes is Rs 325,000 involving customs duty and taxes amounting to Rs 87,750.

The raiding team asked the driver namely Muhammad Saleem to provide legal documents regarding import of the tyres, tubes but he failed to produce the same. Upon his failure the raiding team seized the items and registered a case of smuggling against its owner. Further proceedings are in progress in Faisalabad Adjudication department.
