Peshawar ASO seizes goods worth Rs 1.258 billion in six months

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation has successfully seized foreign origin non-duty tax paid goods worth Rs 1,258.45 million during the last six months in 485 seizure cases.

Talking to Customs Today, Peshawar Anti-Smuggling Organisation Deputy Collector Ubaidullah said that on the directives of Customs Collector Qurban Khan, he reorganised the anti-smuggling squad and introduced new policies, including least reliance and better coordination with levies other law enforcers, particularly the police. “We strengthened and expanded the informers’ network and conducted information-based targeted operations against organised groups who were involved in transporting illegal foreign origin goods,” Ubaidullah said.

In order to keep a check on corrupt elements within the customs, the Anti- Smuggling Division established a special counter-checking squad, he informed.
