ASO foils bid to smuggle 104 laptops worth Rs 5 million

KARACHI: A team of Anti-Smuggling Organization Directorate of Customs Intelligence Karachi region led by ASO chief Haji Aslam thwarted an attempt to smuggle foreign origin laptops worth millions of rupees in two different raids at the Cantt Railway Station.

According to the details, the Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Asif Marghoob Siddiqui received information regarding the smuggling of the above mentioned goods on which he constituted a team which confiscated some luggage at the Cantonment Railway Station and recovered 104 laptops of foreign origin (Lenovo & HP) on two different occasions just before Eidul Fitr.

During the first raid they confiscated as 34 laptops of foreign origin worth Rs 16 lakhs, while in the second raid they recovered as many as 70 laptops of foreign origin worth Rs 35 lakhs.

A seizure report has been prepared in this regard and investigation is on to nab the culprits behind the smuggling.
