ASO recovers Rs 47 billion during last five years

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs and Anti Smuggling Organizations (ASO) has recovered Rs 47 billion of customs duties and arrested 705 smugglers in anti-smuggling raids during the last 5 years.
According to sources, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has submitted a report in the senate committee for finance about the performance of the ASO during the last five years.
According to the report, billions of rupees of smuggled goods have also been seized during the last five years. Moreover, most of the smugglers are arrested last year while most of the amount and goods are recovered last year. The ASO has arrested 51 smugglers and recovered Rs 550 million during the year 2010-11.
