ASO seizes smuggled goods, offending vehicle under worth Rs 2.878m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Squad has seized smuggled Carax N330 and offending vehicle worth Rs 2,878,000.

According to details told by Deputy Collector Shahid Jan of the model customs collectorate, Islamabad, on pursuance of information received by the collector that a Hino truck registration No C-3260 was coming from Dir loaded with smuggled goods.

The ASO mobile squad intercepted the offending vehicle and asked the driver to provide the proof for goods but the driver failed to provide any proof. During the search of the truck, the ASO squad recovered 4,000kg of Carax N330, Orion engineered carbons. The value of the smuggled goods is estimated at Rs 378,000.

The squad impounded the truck which was carrying above smuggled goods, the value of seized offending vehicle was Rs2.5 million, Shahid added that the seizer taken place at GT road near Mandhra.

The ASO seized goods under Customs Act of 1669, the squad who participated in said seizer were comprises as Deputy Superintend Rana Shakeel, Inspector Asif and other joiner staff.

Jan said that FBR had strictly directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against smugglers and offending vehicles as for as smugglers of NDP vehicles and tax evaders.

Deputy Collector said that ASO seized miscellaneous goods under value of Rs.10297355 during first four months of financial year 2016-17, he added that ASO Islamabad is working on high moral ground because the MCC have been exceed it target of first quarter of FY16-17.

He added that ASO under supervision of Collector Dr.Arslan and Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib working with very sophisticated techniques using modern vehicles and other modern facilities like laptops and latest vehicles etc, he adding that during the first quarter of financial year 2016-17 the ASO perform actively against tax evader and smugglers.
