Faisalabad Customs seizes smuggled red chilli seeds, green cardamom

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has recovered 4,000 kilograms of foreign origin red chilly seeds and green cardamom worth Rs 700,000 during a successful action involving customs duty and taxes of Rsf400,000.

Sources told Customs today that Director Robab Sikandar received information about some smuggling attempts. She formed a raiding team comprising Superintendent Saif Ullah, Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) Zahid Saleem Mirza, IO Naseer Ahmed and Muhammad Khalil, Israr Ahmed, Haider Ahmed Ali and Fakhar Abbas, sepoys.

The customs team intercepted a mini mazda truck bearing registration no FSk- 706 loaded with smuggled goods near Green Market Ghalla mandi, Faisalabad. During the search of the truck the team recovered red chilly seeds and green cardamom. The customs team asked accused persons who were identified as Muhammad Usman Javaid (driver), and owner Nusrat iqbal son of Ghulam Muhammad to produce legal documents regarding possession of loaded goods, but they failed to provide any relevant documents in this regard.

The customs team seized the goods under section 18 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further proceeding.
