ASO starts probe against culprits involved in HSD smuggling

KARACHI: Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has taken the custody of the smuggled high speed diesel (HSD) worth millions of rupees.

The source informed Customs Today that the Orangi Town police station mobile, during a routine patrolling, intercepted a ten-wheeler truck bearing registration No. TTD-245. After its checking, huge quantity of smuggled Iranian-origin HSD worth millions of rupees was recovered.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Orangi Town Abid Ali Baloch along with other officers contacted the authorities of ASO and handed over the apprehended smuggled Iranian-origin HSD as well as the driver of the truck after the legal proceedings under section 550 Code of Criminal Procedure.

The source said that the team of ASO registered the case as per their rules and regulations whereas the investigation has been started from the driver of the ten-wheeler truck.

The source also informed that the HSD was being transported from Balochistan through truck No TTD-245 and to hide the smuggling the culprits, spread the crush used for making the road so that the tank of diesel can be covered. The recovered forty hundred liters of high speeds diesel is worth millions of rupees in the market.
