Atiq Mir rejects talks with govt on withholding tax

KARACHI: Chairman All Pakistan Traders Ittehad Atiq Mir rejected talks with government on withholding tax. He termed recently held talks with government as “drama”.

Talking to Customs Today, he said, “We also reject 0.3 transaction tax as we have made it clear to the government that we will not pay any tax on banking transactions.” He said that the government asks for time frame to resolve the issue but a new scenario is being created.

He said that protest will be held until the restoration of old method. He said that if government will not withdraw the transaction tax, the traders will stage rallies across the country after Eidul Fitr. He said that daily hundreds and thousands of traders make transactions through banks and they will not bear this un-justified tax on banking transactions.
