ATIR bars FBR from recovery of dues from Punjab Excise & Taxation

ISLAMABAD: Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) issued stay order and stopped Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from the recovery of outstanding dues from Punjab Excise and Taxation Department.

Official sources told Customs Today that Punjab Excise and Taxation department did not outstanding dues of Rs394 million under the head of withholding taxes (WHT) for the Fiscal Year 2015-16.

The board had earlier frozen the account of Punjab Excise and Taxation Department and recovered Rs19 million; however, the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department consulted with Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue in this regard where the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue issued stay order and stopped Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from recovery for next two months, sources confirmed.

It is also important to mention here that the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department is receiving withholding tax (WHT) on vehicles.
